Scholarships

All high school applicants to U of T Engineering are automatically considered for Faculty-specific admission scholarships when they apply. Applicants are considered for scholarships on the basis of academic excellence and extracurricular involvement as demonstrated in the Online Student Profile. Engineering applicants may also be considered for university-wide scholarships, for which a separate application is required.

SCHOLARSHIP VALUE PROCESS OPEN TO INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS?
C.J. Dick & Ruth A. Sprenger Scholarship for Mature Students in Engineering Variable

This award is open to a Canadian citizen or permanent resident entering First Year of Electrical or Computer Engineering as a full-time mature student. Preference will be given to an individual who has been out of full-time studies or has been in the workforce for a number of years. The award is renewable for years 2–4 based on academic merit.

Candidates will be asked to submit a short essay outlining why they are applying as a mature student and what impact the award would have on their lives. Please direct applications to awards@engineering.utoronto.ca.

Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering Admission Awards Variable, to a maximum of $10,000

Residents of Ontario are considered for Faculty Awards on the basis of financial need and academic achievement. To be eligible for this award, students must submit an application through the Need Navigator. More information can be found on the University Registrar’s Office website.

Troost Family Engineering Award $20,000 x 4 years (renewable) Three awards given annually to first year incoming Engineering students on the basis of financial need. Some U of T scholarships are awarded on the basis of financial need, academic merit or other special criteria. These awards may require additional information or documentation. Indigenous Tuition Initiative 

The University of Toronto has created a new Indigenous Tuition Initiative to foster and strengthen relationships between U of T and Indigenous communities in Ontario, across Canada, and in the United States. This initiative includes three programs:

  • The U of T Indigenous Tuition Grant covers the cost of tuition in eligible undergraduate and graduate programs for students from the nine identified First Nations communities;

  • Indigenous students from the rest of Canada may be eligible for domestic Ontario tuition fee; and

  • Native American/Alaska Native students from the continental U.S.A. may be eligible for domestic Ontario tuition fee.
