Current Ontario High School Applicants - Future Engineering Undergraduates

We carefully consider each application based on a review of your overall academic record and activities outside the classroom which you will report when you complete the Online Student Profile (our supplemental application). If your first language is not English, we may also require that you provide proof that you have satisfied your English Language Requirement.

Step 1: Review our admission requirements

Candidates following the Ontario secondary school curriculum must be working towards obtaining the Ontario Secondary School Diploma and must present the following six Grade 12 U/M courses:

English (ENG4U)
Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U)
Chemistry (SCH4U)
Physics (SPH4U)
Advanced Functions (MHF4U)
One additional U or M course

Step 2: Apply

Visit the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC) and complete the application using your Ontario Education Number (OEN).

Applicants who rank U of T Engineering below 3^rd choice on their OUAC application may be disadvantaged in the admissions process.

You must apply by the deadline for early consideration, to be eligible for consideration in the February round of admission.

We recommend that you submit your OUAC application by November 7. Review a full list of our deadlines.

Online Student Profile Assessment Fee

Students who wish to apply to U of T Engineering are required to pay an additional Online Student Profile Assessment Fee of $43.00 when submitting their OUAC application.

Step 3: Submit your Online Student Profile

Shortly after we receive your OUAC application, you will receive your JOINid with details on how to enable it.

Once your JOINid is enabled, you may proceed to the Engineering Applicant Portal where you will complete the mandatory Online Student Profile.

The Online Student Profile is your opportunity to help us better understand you as a person and your strengths outside of the classroom. Learn more about completing your Online Student Profile. If you do not complete your Profile, your application will not be considered.

To be eligible for admission during the first round of decisions in February, you must complete your Online Student Profile by December 2. A full list of deadlines can be found here.

Submit Your Documents

Provided you have completed all your high school education in Ontario, we will receive your grades from your school, via the OUAC. If you have completed any high school education outside of Ontario, you will be required to upload all relevant documents in the Engineering Applicant Portal by January 15.

To receive admissions consideration in the February round of admission, you must complete your Online Student Profile and provide your supporting documents (if required) by December 2.

English Language Requirement

You may be required to provide proof of English proficiency as part of your application. More information can be found on the University of Toronto’s English Language Requirements page.

If you are required to provide proof of English facility, your results must be submitted as instructed on our page. Results must be received by our document submission deadline.

Step 4: Scholarships and financial planning

Admissible applicants are considered for scholarships on the basis of academic excellence and extracurricular involvement as demonstrated in the Online Student Profile. Engineering applicants may also be considered for university-wide scholarships, for which a separate application is required.

Domestic (Canadian Citizens/Permanent Residents/Protected Persons)

Ontario high school applicants are considered for Faculty scholarships in each round of admission.

Admitted applicants will be automatically considered for many U of T scholarships, but you may be interested in applying for others. Visit the Finances section for details and deadlines.

In addition to scholarship consideration, domestic students may be eligible for government financial aid programs.

UTAPS

The University of Toronto Advance Planning for Students (UTAPS) program provides non-repayable grants to students to help cover this financial need gap, or unmet need. All students who would like to be considered for UTAPS must complete the Need Navigator. For more information, please visit the University Registrar’s Office website.

International (Study Permit)

To receive full consideration for the U of T Engineering International Scholar Award, applicants must complete the Financial Information section in the Engineering Applicant Portal.

International students are not considered for financial aid from the University of Toronto, however, financial information may be taken into consideration when making U of T Engineering International Scholar Award decisions.

Ontario high school students are considered in three rounds of admission in February, March and May. When a decision is made, it will be posted in the Engineering Applicant Portal. All decisions will be made by the end of May.

First Nations, Métis and Inuit Applicants

Indigenous Canadian students who are applying to U of T Engineering are encouraged to self-identify on the Ontario Universities Application Centre application and the Online Student Profile. This declaration is voluntary and will be used by the Admissions Committee in considering applicants for the U of T Engineering Entrance Scholarship for Indigenous Students.
