Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) — 2012 onwards

Candidates completing the HKDSE (Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education) must present:

  • A complete diploma, including at least 2 elective subjects from categories A and/or C
  • This must include Chemistry* and Physics, Mathematics Module 1 (Calculus and Statistics) or Module 2 (Algebra and Calculus). No transfer credit will be awarded.
  • Proof of English Facility may be required**

* The Module in Chemistry is strongly recommended but the Committee will consider the Combined Science module in Biology and Chemistry.

Hong Kong Examination Assessment Authority

Candidates studying in the Hong Kong education system are required to present:

  • 3 HKALE/A levels in Mathematics and Physics
  • Chemistry is highly recommended at the HKALE/A level as well. However, students completing the Engineering stream will be considered provided they have excellent results in HKCEE Chemistry.
  • Proof of English Facility may be required**

Candidates who are currently studying Secondary Six only will not be considered for admission to Engineering.

If you do not meet the English Language Requirements at the time of admission or you are worried that you test score will not meet our minimum requirements, you may want to consider applying for the International Foundation Program (IFP).


Submission of Documents
Applicants are required to submit English translated secondary school transcripts, showing all years of study including current interim results and Predicted HKDSE grades, via the Applicant Portal’s document upload feature prior to February 1. When available, final results should be sent directly to the Engineering Undergraduate Admissions office at the University of Toronto, from the issuing body.
