The University of Toronto has more than 160 partner universities in 60 different countries around the world. Each year, our partner universities accept U of T students into their programs.
While you’re studying abroad, you remain a U of T student. You can go for:
- a summer course
- one semester
- a full academic year
You can also take courses taught by our professors at overseas universities. Your courses count as credits toward your degree here.
You’ll benefit in many ways:
- Going on exchange for a summer, a semester, or a year offers you a fresh perspective on your studies and career.
- You develop international contacts and link up with mentors worldwide.
- You boost your self-confidence and willingness to take on challenges.
- You gain an edge in the workforce: many industries now demand international experience and cross-cultural competency.
Employers see students who have studied abroad as self-starting, willing to embrace challenges, independent and able to cope with diverse situations.
Tomorrow’s leaders will need to work collaboratively with colleagues from other cultures, both in Canada and around the world. Solving complex global problems will require people who can think creatively and critically across many subject areas and geographies.
