Girls' Leadership in Engineering Experience (GLEE)

Take your first step as the next generation of women engineers.

The Girls' Leadership in Engineering Experience (GLEE) is an exclusive event for incoming female engineering students and an opportunity for you to connect with other students, faculty members and alumnae who share your passion for engineering. While learning about your new community, you will also take part in activities designed to inspire and inform.

Current students and alumnae will share their experiences at U of T Engineering and within the engineering field more broadly. Learn why they chose engineering, what is has to offer you and how it can prepare women in the field to make an impact locally and globally.

Registration is extremely limited for GLEE, so please register as soon as possible.

Schedule

Saturday, May 27

9:00 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. Arrival and registration
9:45 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Opening Remarks
10:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. Icebreaker Activities
Meet, learn about and have fun with your other GLEE attendees through a series of activities together.
10:45 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Mythbusting Panel
Current female students will talk to you about what you can look forward to as an Engineering student. They'll share their first-hand experiences, give insights into how they found the transition and offer tips to make the most of your time as a student.
12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. LUNCH
1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Leadership Workshop

Professor Elham Marzi from the Institute for Studies in Engineering Education & Practice (ISTEP) will explore deliver a workshop focused on developing leadership skills for engineering and beyond.

2:30 p.m. – 5:15 p.m. Check-in to Residence and Free Time
5:15 p.m. – 6:15 p.m. Career Panel
A panel of U of T Engineering alumnae from several programs will share with you their journey from student to engineer and the things they learned along the way.
6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Dinner Reception & Keynote Address
At dinner, you'll have an opportunity to connect more informally with several female faculty members who will dine with you. During the meal, you'll also hear the keynote address.
8:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. Evening Activities
In residence, you'll join play games and connect with your other GLEE attendees and begin forming bonds that will continue throughout your time at U of T Engineering and beyond.

What else is happening?

On the second day of your stay, you'll be joining Welcome to Engineering — our annual on-campus showcase for newly admitted students. Over the course of the day you'll get to meet other incoming students, current students, alumni, faculty and staff from your specific-program.
